Lib Dem Cllrs Kirsty Hewens, Catherine Glass and Alistair Price have been working on a project with the traders of the Halfway and Elmbridge Borough Council (EBC), to improve the look and feel of this great local retail area and bring together a shared identity. Cllr Kirsty Hewens said, ‘there are many fabulous businesses along the parade and this project will encourage people to shop local and spend time enjoying the Halfway Green.’

The ‘Love The Halfway’ brand is now displayed on new lamppost banners, funding for which has come from EBC’s Community Infrastructure Levy. Funding was also secured for hanging baskets and railing planters which have now been installed and have really added to the aesthetic of the parade.

Last November, Kirsty organised a bulb planting event on The Halfway Green which was so successful another was held again on 6 November. Pupils from Ashley School, students from Three Rivers Academy, the Fernleigh Centre’s Surrey Choices group, local traders, EBC officers, Councillors and residents all took part in this fabulous event where 2,000 daffodil bulbs were planted. This was such a great example of the community working together and we all look forward to a beautiful display of flowers during the springtime.
